We see light waves all around us and hear sound waves in anything that can production a motion. I want you to take your phone out and document what you see! Then relate it to the science words below and explain it to me in about a sentence. Take at minimum 3 photos! A lot of pictures can represent many of these words. Here are the words for this unit. Be creative and see the example below.

I really should try to not come up with catchy titles because it does not really work! Hahaha, can you figure out where N & S are based on the resources given? Play this game and take a pic once you get it! (how many times did it take really?) How are you all doing? I hope you are well. Know I miss you and have a great day!
Link: https://www.brainpop.com/games/magnethunt/ Hey guys I hope all is well, and please know that I miss you. I hope all your addresses are correct in the system. If you moved in the last several months please email me so I can reach out to you. Can you build a simple machine?? Yea...we really aren't going to build a snowman, but my daughter has been singing Frozen songs all morning! So, that is my title today, hahaha (are you now secretly singing the song in your head?!?). However if we were still in school we would have had our final project that you would have worked on in pairs. We would have built our own Rube Goldberg Machine that showed everything we have learned this year with certain requirements being seen. However, here is one based only on energy transformation look at what these students did below: Now it would be EPIC and awesomeness if you could do a mini one at your house with house hold items. If you do this, I will excuse the your mandatory choice board and two of the other ones. So this and the one below/different option from choice board. However, I know that some of you do not have these resources at home. I have attached another video you can watch. Can you name all the energy transformations like the student did in the video? If you can do that I will replace your mandatory assignment. Hope all is well and I miss you all. Not going to lie I was impressed with this one and was like NOOO and the end and started laughing...or maybe it was just me. (link:youtu.be/0lz8_aaKNXA)
What is energy, and how do we see it everyday? In the simulation below, you will see how heat can make an engine work. Click on the tutorial if you need assistance. This eliminates one assignment from the choice board if you play this and write 3-5 sentences explaining how this concept works. Can you see this heat concept in any other form of machinery? You can make a comment with this information, send it in an email, or even through remind! In this unit (Forms of Energy/Transformation) the extension you needed to truly understand is: AC Extension: Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to explain transformations and flow of energy within a system c. Analyze and interpret specific heat data to justify the selection of a material for a practical application (e.g., insulators and cooking vessels). (SPS7)
I hope you are all doing well and know that I miss you all! Here is a tutorial link if you want to view it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpFLjyOTSgk&feature=youtu.be
Hey class! I think I learned recording on a camera for cooking is what is needed and not a laptop! I will try a different way to do this demo in the future, but for now this is my awesomely bad cooking video! How to make an egg.
There is a full minute where you cannot hear me. This is the gist of what I was saying/asking: do you see how the liquid is taking the shape of the solid pan, what can you observe that is happening to the egg? (gave the answer of the transparent liquid becoming a white solid), I asked if you could hear anything (hahaha, nope!), I was talking about how pockets of gas started to form when the egg started to bubble...and then you heard me come back on thinking you heard me all along! Your assignment for just the basic choice (in the discussion post) - what physical/chemical properties did you see, what physical/chemical reactions did you see? You assignment if you do not want to do any of the mandatory assignments on the choice board - create a video/demo of yourself in the kitchen cooking something/explaining to me where chemistry is found in cooking. If you do not want to do that find pictures online or of yourself and do a picture collage and explain the chemistry through pictures and your written words. This can be done on any online tool like PowerPoint or Prezi or whichever other method you pick. We have a new schedule and we are going to have a Zoom meeting tomorrow morning at 10am! Let me know if you need anything and have a great day! Amelia and I will be posting a video/demo of us kind of cooking! This will be posted before 2pm! So come back and have a laugh...or maybe it will be good...not sure.
Hey class! I hope you are all well rested and you are staying happy and healthy. I sure do miss all of you and our conversations we have. I remember when I was growing up, there was this silly game I used to play to kill time...now it is relevant for you. I know I said in our last Zoom meeting that we would do something different because you wanted to go back to waves first. However, this was vetoed (meaning I cannot do this) due to the fact we need to not confuse anyone during this time. Doing something different will cause that. However, we will get back to waves I promise! So, lets go back to the beginning Chemistry, and back to my point of my time eating game. It is called little alchemy (https://littlealchemy.com/), you can play online at the website provided OR download the game app on your phone (does not require internet!). You can make over 500 new "things" based on the 4 elements: air, earth, fire, and water. Apparently you can even make Yoda! I am going to ask you to time yourself for 20 minutes and play the game (no cheating please) and then do a small write up. In this write up, you are going to include how many you were able to create (I did it and only got to 43...womp womp), what was the most interesting "thing" you created within your 20 minutes, and how the "mixture" of these elements relate to what we previously learned in chemistry! Here are my photo's below to show you my awesomeness! Beat me :) Let me know if you need anything at all! I am here for you. If you choose to do this extension assignment this eliminates one of your choice board activities. Hey class! Can you believe we have been doing this for 3 weeks now?!?! Crazy I know, and we are going to finish out the year like this too! Please do not stop coming to the page and learning with me, I already miss you and like seeing what you post/the work you turn in. We have our last Zoom meeting before the break here is the info below!
